Getting to Cavendish

Prince Edward Island is located on the east coast of Canada in the Maritime Provinces. Cavendish and the Dune Shores is located on the North Shore of Prince Edward Island.

Arriving by Bridge
Confederation Bridge is the longest continuous span bridge in the world over water that is ice covered for part of the year. It's a fast and easy way to visit the Island. The bridge is 12.9 km long (9 miles) and connects New Brunswick and PEI.

The Confederation Bridge is open to traffic 24 hours a day all year long.
The construction of the Confederation Bridge took 5 years and was finished in 1997.

Construction employed more than 5000 people and cost $1 billion.
The bridge has a hollow core structure to house electrical cables, phone cables and other services to and from the Island. It is 60 metres (197 feet) above water at its highest point, allowing seafaring vessels safe passage under the bridge.

The drive from the Confederation Bridge to Cavendish is 55 kilometres (30 miles).

Sit back and relax on a 75-minute cruise from Nova Scotia to Prince Edward Island. Gaze over the blue Northumberland Strait, and watch the gulls and the fishing boats in the distance. Enjoy a meal, browse the gift shop or spend some time in the arcade. The trip will be over before you know it!

The Northumberland Ferry Service operates from May to December, and sails up to 11 times a day between Caribou, Nova Scotia and Wood Islands, PEI. The drive from the ferry terminal to Cavendish is 100 kilometres (60 miles).

Charlottetown Airport - Travelling to PEI couldn’t be easier.

The Charlottetown Airport is located just minutes away from downtown Charlottetown. It is located in the centre of the province, making it within easy driving distance of all destinations on PEI.

The airport is served by Air Canada Jazz, WestJet, Northwest Airlines, and Sunwing. In the summer, flights can directly connect you to and from Halifax, Montreal, Toronto and Detroit.

The airport terminal building has a restaurant, lounge and gift shop. The separate business centre offers telephone and fax services, computer workstations, printer services, and computer hookups. Wireless Internet service is also available.
